Great gatsby nick is gay
The scene isn't open to a reader's interpretation, it's sublimely prepared for a reader's interpolation. He is also divorced without really explaining it, and he is pretty obsessed with Gatsby. Anything's possible Dec 03, PM. There is that scene where he is obsessed with the elevator lever.
While it appeared to answer my question it ultimately skirted around the ultimate significance of Nick being gay and went more for proving the fact. Haven't read the book in two years so can't say if I think for sure he's one or the other; would have to read it again.

But really there is no way to say for sure. Is Nick Carraway Gay? One can say there’s plenty of evidence in the novel that speaks indirectly to Nick’s sexuality, but as mentioned earlier, there are also statements proving otherwise.
I'd read about the scene in the elevator, and someone said the exact same thing.

Scott Fitzgerald, we follow the narrative and point of view of Nick Carraway. I don't really see any indication of Nick being homosexual, but I'd like to know what other people think. It pretty much seems like it's open to the reader's interpretation. I am of the same opinion.

It’s quick and easy to see that his reliability as a narrator is not great, as seen especially in the scenes where he is missing parts of his memory of the time after the party with Tom and Myrtle. That seems like a heterosexual behavior.
